OFFERINGS

As a writer, researcher, and somatics practitioner, I am committed to creating spaces, programs, and projects that are healing-centered and liberatory. I center people over products and use decolonial, as well as popular education, methodologies. I understand that anytime that I am called to “teach,” I am simultaneously being called to learn — humility and curiosity are two of my core and most sacred values. As a creative, I am interested in the interdependence between art and liberation — I strive to find new ways to center creative praxis in social justice movement spaces. Given that I believe that we are strongest and most powerful together, I opt for collaborative approaches that center community and directly impacted groups.

  • Partnering with organizations and using mixed methodologies to evaluate projects, programs, networks, and impact. My approach is always to begin with conversations so that I can learn about the organization — their history, where they are at the moment, and where they hope to be. In collaborating with staff, I design a research/evaluation plan that suits the needs, capacity and budget of the organization. While I have both quantitative and qualitative analysis expertise, I am particularly passionate about the stories that can be derived from qualitative data. I am also passionate about supporting organizations in thinking about data security, robust informed consent processes, confidentiality practices, and how to make data actionable.

  • Supporting clients as they think/feel through what it means to center and cater to their bodies and overall wellbeing.

I coach people from diverse backgrounds, including senior leaders and junior staff, as well as individuals working in foundations, labor unions, and grassroots organizations. While my clients have primarily been Black women, I have coached people of many genders, races, and professional experiences.

  • Planning and facilitating in-person and virtual retreats. I enjoy designing spaces for staff to build authentic relationships, interdependence, and a culture that feels healthy and sustainable. Additionally, I design retreats with spaciousness and accessibility in mind. During retreats, I invite staff to engage in discussions, games, art-making activities, and meditation. My retreats are centered on joy, healing, and possibility.

  • I have over a decade of experience in writing and editing poetry. My love for creative writing influences the writing that I engage in across other mediums, including Op-Eds, reports, and articles for journals. Due to my multi-disciplinary writing expertise, I am able to provide support with grant writing, proofreading, as well as more high-level commentary on the flow and direction of a body of text.

  • Facilitating healing/somatic workshops that combine breathwork with writing, drawing, and other forms of creative expression. While these workshops can be facilitated on a one-off occasion, I have found that developing a community of practice over a sustained period of time provides participants with more of an opportunity to ask questions, reflect, and witness change. It is important for me to create spaces that are as safe as possible. My approach is gentle and I meet people wherever they are. I have experience in facilitating somatics workshops for institutions including non-profit organizations, universities, and foundations. I have facilitated sessions virtually and at in-person conferences and retreats. I am particularly interested in providing these services for survivors of different forms of violence including sexual violence and the prison industrial complex.

  • I have 8+ years of experience in designing and facilitating social justice trainings on a variety of issues. Some of the trainings that I have offered in the past include:

    • Mental health in Black immigrant communities

    • An overview of the history of structural racism

    • The Social Determinants of Health

    • Identifying policy solutions

    • Identifying community priorities

    • Change is the only constant (a training to support staff through times of transition)

    • Conflict transformation

    • Intersectionality

    • Power (a training centered on the different levels of power, positionality, and how to use privileges in service of change)

    • Holistic wellbeing in the workplace and beyond

I also have experience in supporting organizations in building their own training infrastructure by guiding them through a process of identifying their priorities, audience, goals, and mission, and ensuring that each training they deliver is cohesive, engaging, and impactful.

  • Supporting individuals and organizations in actualizing their goals and visions. This may involve (but is not limited to) supporting staff through a process of identifying the impact they would like their work to have, what it will take to achieve it, and how they will recognize success when their plans are actualized. My approach to strategic planning involves both high-level and more granular tasks, including the creation of organizational values, task management processes, mission statements, timelines, proposals, budgets, and curricula.

  • While there are a number of offerings that I have provided in the past, I am always open to expanding my practice! If there are new avenues that you are interested in collaborating on based on my skillset and passions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
